Our History
The company was established in 1979 as a sole trader, becoming a
limited company in 1997.
Since starting the business 30 years ago, when Barry bought his first JCB
3C, the company now employs 40 drivers, offering a wide range of vehicles
and plant equipment. As well as offering “plant hire” as the name suggests,
we also offer a wide range of contracting and excavation services.
Whist we are able to undertake larger jobs and contracts, we have retained
the culture of a small and tightly managed family business, which manifests
itself both in the interest our men take in their work and their commitment
to getting the job done for the customer. “If we don’t take care of our
customers, someone else will”.
Experience and loyalty are extremely high at Barry Wood Plant Hire, with
over 400 years machine-driving experience between the 20 longest serving
staff members and over 250 years service between the 10 longest serving
staff members.
We offer a 24-hour service to our customer base which includes the
following industries: quarrying, construction, building, manufacturing,
authorities & councils as well as the private and domestic market.
